Who we are and how to contact us

Having access to safe and affordable housing is important to our well-being.  We have power as tenants by knowing and enforcing our rights.  We have strength as a community by standing together to fight for decent housing.  It is our right to live in safety and free from harassment.

This site is an aid for tenants, produced by Dalhousie Legal Aid Service in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  You'll find a copy of our plain language "Tenant Rights Guide" to help tenants understand their legal rights on this site.  There are also to important documents that you'll need to fill out if you are involved with Residential Tenancies in Nova Scotia.  And there are also links to other useful information and tenant organizations around Canada.  We hope you find this site useful!

HomeThe production of the Tenant Rights website has been made possible through a grant from the Halifax Regional Municipality through their HRM Community Grants Program.  Dalhousie Legal Aid Service gratefully acknowledges this support.

The information on this site contains general legal information only and is not intended to serve as a replacement for professional or other legal advice.  Further, this guide only applies to Residential Tenancies in Nova Scotia.
